School Council 2023/2024

The aims of the School Council are to enhance the lives of the whole school community and enable pupils to have a strong voice in how Ludham School is run.  The School Council meets regularly to discuss matters related to school improvement.

School councillors are elected by the pupils at the beginning of each year. There is one representative for each year group.

All children can make suggestions to their class representatives. The School Council also communicates with the rest of the school via meetings, assemblies, and posters.

Past School Councils:

Have talked about how we stay safe at Ludham Primary School by interviewing people who work in the school and asking questions about how they ensure good health and safety in and outside of school. They also helped to compile a questionnaire about safety.

Discussed ways to develop our outdoor environment. The children looked at a range of outdoor equipment to extend our Trim Trail. Pupils voted on their preferred choices of play equipment and the Parents’ Committee agreed to fund some of these items.

Eco-Committee 2023-2024

At Ludham Primary School and Nursery, we are working in conjunction with Eco Schools England to rally and unite young people to make realistic but dynamic change, creating positive impacts for our school, our community and our planet now.

We are committed to working with each other to ensure our children are supported in learning the skills and knowledge needed to benefit and improve our planet throughout their lifetimes.

At Ludham we are working on the Seven Steps towards achieving the Eco-Schools Green Flag:

House Captains 2023/2024

Our house captains play a vital role in organising house events throughout the year.

At Ludham, we believe that children need to experience duties and responsibilities that come with being a member of a community in order to help them prepare to play an active role as citizens in the wider world.

The role of the House Captain is very important to the day-to-day organisation of our school. Our year 6 pupils are only allowed to apply for the position of House Captain, therefore it is considered to be very prestigious.  They are more than just a title and badge and require dedication and commitment for an entire year. In a sense they are junior members of staff and are expected to take their roles seriously.

The positions not only allow the Year Six pupils to lead by example and demonstrate their responsibility, it also enables the younger children to learn from a good example.

Each child in Year 6 is given the opportunity to apply for the job and their applications then go through a selection process.

Once their application has been successful, the roles are announced in a whole school celebration assembly.
